Rigor & Standards

How Learntrix Builds & Verifies Tools

Last updated: August 2026

1. Formula Sourcing & Mathematical Standards

Every calculator and utility on Learntrix is built from published statutory acts, banking standards, or established scientific formulas:

  • Taxation & Statutory Schemes: Indian Income Tax slabs derive directly from the Finance Act and notifications of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), including Section 87A rebate mechanics and standard deduction limits. GST split rules follow the Central Goods and Services Tax Act.
  • Banking & Amortization: Loan EMI computations use the standard reducing-balance monthly annuity formula endorsed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Fixed Deposit and Recurring Deposit compounding frequencies comply with Indian Banks' Association (IBA) guidelines.
  • Scientific & General Math: Date differences use standard calendar arithmetic accounting for leap years. Unit conversions reference National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) conversion factors.
  • Health Indicators: Body Mass Index (BMI) calculations follow World Health Organization (WHO) and Ministry of Health clinical classifications. These are flagged as educational indicators and never replace medical diagnostic consultation.

2. Automated Unit Testing & Boundary Validation

Before any tool or rate change is deployed to production, it must pass automated test suites that verify:

  • Zero-divide and extreme input handling (e.g. ₹0 loans, 100-year tenures, negative values).
  • Rounding consistency to the nearest integer or two decimal places using standard financial round-half-up logic.
  • Cross-comparison with official government portal samples (e.g. Income Tax e-filing portal tax calculators).

3. Statutory Parameters & "Last Updated" Timestamps

Statutory constants — such as tax rebate limits, PPF interest rates, and GST tax brackets — are isolated in structured configuration files. The Last updated stamp shown on each tool indicates the date the underlying parameters and logic were last reviewed against official gazettes.

4. Error Reporting & Rapid Correction

If you observe any discrepancy in a calculation or believe a statutory parameter has changed following a new gazette notification, please report it directly via our email link:
