How to Solve Sudoku Puzzles
Sudoku is a logic-based combinatorial number-placement puzzle. The objective is to fill a 9×9 grid with digits so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3×3 subgrids that compose the grid contain all of the digits from 1 to 9.
Core Solving Techniques
- Cross-Hatching / Scanning: Focus on a single digit (e.g. 1) and trace its rows and columns across neighboring 3×3 blocks to pinpoint the only remaining cell where it can fit.
- Naked Singles: When inspecting an empty square, count all digits present in its row, column, and box. If eight distinct digits are already accounted for, the empty square must be the single remaining number.
- Pencil Notes: Toggle on Notes mode to jot down possible candidates for ambiguous squares. When another square claims a number, eliminate it from your candidates.
